PoC begins on a KYC review support system built on AWS generative AI technology — validating feasibility for a production environment

Infinity Exchange Korea (CEO Jae-kang Lee, hereinafter INEX), a digital asset financial infrastructure company, announced on August 14 that it has begun a proof of concept (PoC) to enhance anti-money laundering (AML) operations using the generative AI technology of Amazon Web Services (AWS), a global leader in AI and cloud computing, and to validate the feasibility of applying it in a production environment.
INEX is pursuing the provision of back-end infrastructure in a B2B2C form, enabling banks, securities firms and fintech companies to connect digital asset functions while maintaining their existing customer touchpoints. Under this structure, retail financial consumers continue to use the banks and securities firms they are already familiar with, while the services behind them run on INEX’s compliance framework.
The area INEX has focused on in this project is customer due diligence (KYC) — the most sensitive gateway for a virtual asset service provider. INEX is validating an AI screening system in which AI performs a first-pass selection of suspected forgery or alteration indicators on identity documents submitted by users and supports the work of compliance reviewers, tested on the premise of an actual operating environment.

Jeon Ju-ho, CTO of INEX, demonstrates the analysis results screen of the 'AI screening' system for suspected forgery or alteration of identity documents applied to KYC review.
KYC has traditionally been an area verified visually by compliance reviewers. When AI presents key suspicious indicators and review priorities, reviewers can concentrate their judgment on high-risk cases. The structure does not replace human judgment; it narrows the points at which judgment must be applied, thereby raising precision. As review consistency is secured, the transaction trust that users experience rises along with it.
Under the Act on Reporting and Using Specified Financial Transaction Information, virtual asset service providers are included within the scope of “financial companies, etc.” and therefore bear anti-money laundering obligations including customer due diligence, suspicious transaction reporting and internal controls. At the same time, certification under the Information Security Management System (ISMS) is linked to the acceptance of a provider's registration, meaning that both financial regulation and information security regulation must be satisfied together. Through this validation, INEX plans to raise the efficiency and the consistency of KYC and AML review work at the same time.

INEX employees and AWS representatives pose for a commemorative photo after the collaboration session on building generative AI services.
INEX has in place the acceptance of its virtual asset service provider registration (October 2024), ISMS certification (April 2025), an enhanced AML framework (February 2025), and integration with the Travel Rule — the international anti-money laundering standard requiring originator and beneficiary information to accompany virtual asset transfers. With global cloud standards and an AI-assisted review system added on top, financial institutions can reduce the burden required for building digital asset functions and responding to compliance requirements, subject to their own internal review.
INEX plans to expand the scope of AI application in stages to the analysis of suspicious transaction detection results, support for on-chain risk investigation, and support for customer service operations.
“I believe that compliance at INEX is not only for our own company, but a shared safety net that allows the banks, securities firms and fintech companies connected to us to enter the digital asset market while reducing the burden of building and reviewing systems of their own,” said Jae-kang Lee, CEO of INEX. He also noted, “Validating a KYC review support system built on AWS generative AI is precisely about creating infrastructure that can reduce the compliance burden on our partners.” He added, “INEX will treat regulation not as a mere cost but as the foundation of trust for the digital asset business.”
